Our 2nd Grade DLI classrooms have been buzzing with excitement thanks to the Flat Stanley Project! 🤩 Inspired by the book where a bulletin board falls on Stanley Lambchop, flattening him so he can be mailed on adventures (cheaper than a plane ticket!), our students sent their own paper companions to visit friends and relatives in different states and countries. We've had Stanley's' travel to incredible places like London, Mexico, Slovakia, and so many more exciting destinations! They've been learning so much about different places through Stanley's travels. What a wonderful hands-on learning experience!
Today we recognized Math Masters for the month of March . Congratulations to these students for their hard work in Math!
This week, Mrs. Clark's preschool class learned about basic plant parts and needs. We got to wrap up our week by planting our very own flowers and grass! We are excited to watch them grow.

They are incubating eggs and learning all about the life cycle of chickens! 🥚➡️🐥➡️🐔. Our students are becoming little scientists—making predictions, recording observations, and eagerly counting down to hatch day. 🗓️🔍. From tiny embryos to fluffy chicks, we’re exploring real-life science in the most egg-citing way! Stay tuned for updates as we peep into this unforgettable learning experience! 🐓📚✨
Look who made it rain today! 🤩 Mrs. Wanstrath's class dove into the science of rain clouds with a hands-on experiment. They loved watching their "clouds" release their "rain"! 💧☁️ What a fun way to learn!
This week in Mrs. Oelker's 2nd Grade DLI Classes, it was all about sequencing! First, next, then, last – and the ultimate test: writing a detailed "how to" on making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! 🥜🍇 Today, the students watched as Mrs. Oelker followed their exact instructions... and let's just say some sandwiches were more successful than others! 😉 This hands-on activity was a delicious way to learn the importance of detailed writing!
Students in Mrs. Fox‘s 1st grade class have just started learning about measurement this quarter. Today they compared the lengths of various school supplies. They recorded their discoveries by tracing three of their school supplies and writing a sentence using the words “longer than” or “shorter than” to compare the lengths of their objects. ✏️✂️🖍️
Camp Read A Lot was a blast! Mrs. Oelker's 2nd grade DLI students celebrated finishing IREAD last week, wrapping up the third quarter, and Read Across America Week with a day of reading fun. From building tents to reading with flashlights and enjoying a 'bonfire' bingo, these kids showed their love for books! And who could forget the s'mores trail mix and apple juice? A truly memorable day! 🏕️📖

In Mrs. Solly's second grade classroom, students have been working to deepen their comprehension of literary themes. They have been investigating how authors include significant lessons within their narratives, strengthening students' abilities to think critically about the stories they read. Way to go!
Mrs. Solly's second graders are mastering strategies for adding and subtracting three-digit numbers. Students used a dice game to practice adding and subtracting 10 and 100 from three-digit numbers. The kids loved the challenge and showed off their mental math skills!
